« Completed Projects » REPLACEMENT DOORS (INCLUDING ARMORART™ METAL & GLASS INSERTS)/Private Residence-Maitland, FL... This customer wanted some new doors to replace her dated, solid mahogany pieces (right, below). She liked our Bamboo design, but wanted something even more luxurious than our Door Grilles.
We suggested a set of wood-grained fiberglass-composite (single-lite) french doors, with our Bamboo-themed metal & glass inserts. These inserts include our Bamboo Shoot I design (Kee Hee Lee, Artist, used with permission from Bentley Publishing - cut out of 14GA steel), sandwiched between two pieces of tempered glass - the outside being plain, and the inside being decorative/textured ''Raindown'' glass (looks like rainwater is flowing down). We both liked the idea. Not just because it looks fantastic (below), but it allowed in plenty of light, and maintained her privacy! In addition, since air is the best insulator, and our metal/glass inserts offer 3/4'' of it, the new doors would be much more energy-efficient!

BTW: we installed these doors with biometric (fingerprint) electronic security deadbolts & matching hardware... Our customer is showing her doors off to everyone she knows.

WALL PANELS/Restaurant/Lounge-Coronado Springs Resort, Lake Buena Vista, FL... Upon arriving at the offices of AIP Design (in Baldwin Park) to drop off some info, the company principal asked us what we do. ''We do laser-cut ornamental & architectural metal.'' We were then unceremoniously ushered into a room, where several people were pouring over blueprints. After rifling through the drawings, they stopped at a page, pointed, and asked ''Can you do this?''. ''Yes. Of course. When do you need it?'' The wall panels (below) were installed in less than four weeks.
The customer provided the initial pattern, which we modified, then had cut out of nine 4x8 sheets of 16GA steel. The bottom 2x4 sections are flat, angled inward at the bottom 10 degrees, and mounted w/ safety-backed mirrors. The mirrors are secured both top & bottom, and the panels are set 8'' from the wall. They were designed to be installed quickly and easily - 186 SF of custom metal & glass panels were installed in a day. We've done several jobs for the same customer since.

DOOR GRILLES/Private Residence-Southeast Orlando, FL... Our first project was done on a whim... The customer's builder offered some cheezy wrought iron-looking door window grilles for a pair of 8' x 3' french doors - and wanted to charge an arm & a leg to boot.
We felt that we could ''build a better mousetrap'' - and more affordably. So, knowing that the home was a little bit each of Tuscany & Tokyo, we decided that putting a little bit of Tokyo on the entryway would accentuate the bamboo floors (you'll see both when the doors open).

We needed some inspiration, and began scouring the internet for ancient bamboo watercolors - simple, yet elegant. We found Bamboo Shoot I (above, left), by Kee Hee Lee, an artist from Dayton, OH (shown w/ permission of Bentley Publishing). Not ancient (of course), but a beautiful work of art.
Utilizing current resources, the new grilles were designed, laser-cut, fabricated, powder-coated & installed in less than a week (above, right) - for a fraction of the cost of what the builder asked. As a bonus, we added ''hurricane/ballistic tinting'' to the inside glass panes (for that 'mirror' look, some privacy, and wind/burglar protection). We know that you'll agree that our solution is vastly superior to 'keeping up with the Joneses' with wrought iron...

WROUGHT IRON FIREPLACE SCREEN/Private Residence-Isleworth/Windermere, FL... This customer has a beautiful fireplace & wanted a screen that would: a) complement their fireplace; and, b) match the décor of the room - specifically, the stair railing shown in the tapestry hung above the mantle! They wanted the finish to match the other décor as well! The result is below.

As you can see, we matched everything perfectly! The piece is made from hammered steel tube, rings and bar, with heavy-duty hinges. The welds are all full pillow welds (no rust!). We even added weight to the rear-most tubes - to make it very hard to tip forward (can't watch those little rascals all the time!).

WINDOW DÉCOR/Private Residence-Winter Park, FL... An interior design firm familiar with our work recommended us to a client of theirs who was having trouble finding someone to do a particular job - a client with close ties to the ironworkers in Central Florida, no less. After meeting with 17 other ''ornamental metal experts'', they chose ArmorArt™ to do the job. We spoke their language.
They were (are) avid collectors of art, and had a series of four pieces mounted on transluscent glass in identical 18''x18''x1-1/2'' black wood frames. They also had a window on a stair landing that would be an ideal location to showcase these pieces. Problem was that this window was a dated design, with 1/2'' white spars in between the glass panes. They wanted us to create a piece that would a) hide the window behind, b) showcase the four pieces of art, c) let the sun shine through, and, d) complement their art. All we had was a sketch (left). A tall order, indeed.
After taking more than 70 different measurements (twice!), we designed and fabricated the final product (right). Upon close inspection, one would notice that all the welds are uniform, all the surfaces clean, no joints are visible, the artwork (theirs) fits snugly into our artwork, and the powder coat matches the finish of the frames perfectly. Needless to say, they - and their interior designer - were duly impressed. And very happy with the final product.

STAINLESS BRIGHTWORK/Restaurant-Panda Express, Jacksonville, FL... The customer, Venture Construction, was looking for a new brightwork vendor - to fabricate various shrouds, wall, corner & miscellaneous pieces of stainless steel. Our bid was 50% less than their previous vendor's bid.

In less than two weeks, we had visited the site (& taken measurements), designed the appropriate pieces, fabricated and then installed every item. The customer liked it so much, they had us do a couple more orders.

METAL FURNITURE MODIFICATION/Restaurant/Lounge-Coronado Springs Resort, Lake Buena Vista, FL... The customer had some art-deco 'sculpture' couches custom fabricated from steel for the lounge. However, Disney safety officials wouldn't approve them without some modifications - basically, make them child-proof (i.e., mod them so kids wouldn't get their hands, head or clothing caught in elements of the couch).
We took the eight couches, made the modifications, and had them ready for delivery in a few days. One thing to keep in mind: these were custom pieces, with a custom finish. Made entirely of sculpted/hammered steel, the surface was allowed to rust, then lightly sanded, then coated with a glaze that allowed the metal's natural properties to show through (with a dark grey tint). We duplicated this process (hammering the metal, letting it rust, sanding it, etc.). Our painter then concocted a matching glaze (it was black at first, but then faded within a week to match the rest of the couch EXACTLY). Needless to say, the customer was quite pleased.
